Coffee is more than a drink; it's an experience and a science. As baristas, we are responsible for every cup, for transforming coffee beans into an unforgettable sensory experience.

In this workshop, you'll go beyond the basics, delving into what it takes to enable you to become a professional barista. We'll explore the art of perfect extraction, from fine-tuning the grind, dosage and correct extraction time;

This workshop will cover: 

Background on the duties of a barista

- A review of the basics of coffee extraction;
- Basic equipment and techniques.

Introduction to speciality coffee tasting

- Supervised cupping with coffees from different regions;
- Classifying a good espresso: identifying defects and qualities;

Introduction to the operation of an espresso machine

-Pressure, temperature and water.

Coffee extraction variables: grinding, dosage, time and final dosage.

- Influence of each variable on the final flavour of the coffee;
- How to correct defects by changing each variable;
- Espresso grinding: detailed explanation of bean granulometry.


Equipment handling techniques and behaviour in front of the espresso machine

  • Developing healthy practices when handling equipment;
    - Working effectively, easily and fluidly during espresso preparation.
